Founded in 2003, London Short Festival (LSFF) is a BAFTA-qualifying, internationally regarded independent short film festival.

Each January, LSFF hosts ten days of short form, conversation and multidisciplinary curation. We present between 250-500 British and international films each edition, collaboratively programmed down from 5000+ open submissions, alongside Special Events and an industry offering of workshops, panels and discussion for filmmakers and workers.

LSFF hosts two competition selections – International and UK, with additional awards for Best Lo-Budget film and the Taash Award for Comedy in film

The Best International Short Film award winner will receive a £2000 grant towards their next project. An International Special Mention will be awarded £500 towards their next project.

The Best British Short Film Award winner will receive £1000 in cash and £1000 grant towards supporting travel to an international festival, or to attend a training and development opportunity of their choice. A British Special Mention will be awarded £500 grant for the same type of support.

The Best Lo-Budget Short winner will receive an award of £500. The winner of the Taash Award For Comedy In Film will receive an award of £1000 towards their next project.

Tom Grimshaw

(Senior Programmer)

Tom is the Senior Programmer at LSFF where he’s worked since 2014. He curates both the International Competition selection and Special Events with an emphasis on experimental and artist-based work.

He holds an MA in Documentary Filmmaking from LCC, and also works on the selection committees of Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and Filmfest Dresden.
