ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
REGARD is one of the most important short films festival in North America. Established in 1995 and constantly growing ever since, the event presents near two hundred short films from Québec and around the world every year.
One of the most magic things about REGARD is the atmosphere that surrounds it. Indeed, beyond films projections and competitions, a wide range of activities supplements the event. Short film aficionados of all shades will appreciate the formula that has yielded REGARD’s success:
– Professional Short Film Market
– Festive nightclub opened every night
– Carte blanche offered to a foreign festival
– Sessions adapted for schools, families and teenagers
In March 2015, for its 19th edition, REGARD attracted more than 35 000 visitors for its various activities. The Festival also hosts an international competition where more than 30 000 $ of cash prizes and services are awarded to the winning filmmakers.
Acknowledged by cinema professionals, REGARD gathers around 300 of them (directors, producers, national and international buyers, distributors, journalists, script-writers) who come to Saguenay in order to present their films and participate in the many activities (workshops, forums, masterclasses, etc.) of the Short Film Market, the only event in this domain in Québec.
The screening sessions mostly take place in Jonquière and Chicoutimi.
