ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Since its inception in 1980, our festival has grown and evolved from the Busan Korean Short Film Festival, to become the Busan Asian Short Film Festival in 2000 and eventually the Busan International Short Film Festival in 2010. It was the first festival of its category in South Korea.
COMPETITIONS & AWARDS
We have four competitive sections:
– International Competition (37 selected films at the 2016 edition)
– Korean Competition (17 selected films)
– NETPAC (a prize for the best Asian short)
– Operation Kino (dedicated to students from Busan’s cinema universities who must complete short documentaries in the month prior to the festival)
