Under the Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd and Tayangan Unggul brand, Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd’s main business is producing movies for the local and regional market. In addition, Astro Shaw also acquires and distributes movies for theatrical and non-theatrical release in Malaysia and the region.
After 18 years of filmmaking experience, Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd has produced more than 65 titles across various genres in the Malay, Chinese and Indian languages. Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd is one of the biggest film studios in Malaysia and renowned as a company that is both innovative and uncompromising on the quality of its films. This is evidenced by more than 120 awards from local and foreign film festivals, including 3 Best Film Awards through KL menJERIT, Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang and Papadom at the Malaysian Film Festival. Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd’s recent films, The Journey and Maindhan, the highest grossing Malaysian movie and Malaysian Tamil movie of all time respectively, have strengthened the company’s foothold in the region and brought us international recognition.
